TV Binge Board: Remembering What I Was Watching

There is a particular kind of entertainment problem where the hard part is remembering which episode comes next. TV Binge Board gives that information a home.

The app tracks shows and movies a user wants to watch, is watching, has completed, or has dropped. It also supports ratings and notes. It is an organizer for watching, not a service that streams the content.

The workflow brings search, manual entry, imports, and screenshot uploads into the same general area. TMDB-linked items can refresh their available episode information, while next-up and caught-up labels make progress easier to interpret. An episode becoming available does not automatically mean it has been watched.

There are useful controls for avoiding clutter. Smart sorting favors active items, finished or caught-up shows can be hidden, and compact mobile cards keep the list manageable. A text-only episode mode gives another way to view progress without relying on picture cards.

Sharing and mutual connections add a social layer. Users can expose appropriate lists and see activity from connected or public lists. Import review also matters: staged entries and duplicate checks give someone a chance to correct a guess before it joins the collection.

The project uses PHP and JSON, with file locking, atomic writes, and restore points. It includes home-screen installation support, but the web interface remains the center of the experience.

Feedback has shaped the project. The documentation credits Matt’s early testing with improvements to sorting, progress controls, compact views, and next-episode behavior. That is a good example of how real use reveals needs that a feature checklist misses.

The goal is simple: spend less time reconstructing the watchlist and more time actually watching something.
